MY OWN FISH
Care Instructions- Betta Splendans (2)

1.        Temperature: do not place your aquarium in a draft or next to a heating vent. It should not get
too hot or cold.
2.        Water: Change about half of the water each week, more often if it becomes cloudy. Add tap
water and 2-3 drops of the liquid in the vial, which removes chlorine from the tap water.
3.        Cleaning: Never clean your container or gravel with soap. Always use hot water and a cloth.
Only change all the water and clean gravel once a month or more frequently if the water has
cloudiness problems.
4.        Feeding: less than one pinch, a few granules only once a day. Never feed fish more than they
want to eat. Uneaten food soils the water. Fish can go without eating for days. Your Betta fish will
appreciate snacks of very small bugs if you are able to find some. Houseflies are too big for Betta,
fruit flies are excellent.
5.        Air: do not allow air holes in lid to become plugged. Air must circulate to the water surface. If
an oily film develops on top of the water, change some of the water.
6.        Bubbles on surface of water: are normal for male Betta fish. They are saliva bubbles building
a nest for eggs for if he finds a female.
7.        More fish: don’t add more fish to your aquarium. Move fish to a larger aquarium first. Ask
questions at a fish supply store.
8.        Illness: should your Betta look or act ill, change some water several times a day. If this
doesn’t help, take your Betta (in its house) your local fish store.

Arctic Ice Plants
Directions and Care

1. ice crystals are dirt as far as the plant knows. They are an inert, non toxic plastic compound. They
neither hold nor give off water. So water your plant as normal. Keep in mind there is no drainage in
your vase. Moist crystals appear as gel, changing to “ice” as they “dry out”. Water sparingly when
“ice” look reaches bottom of vase.

2. use enclosed fertilizer or miracle gro by taking only as much blue crystals as can be pinched
between two fingertips and dissolving it in one gallon distilled, spring or bottled water. (using tap
water is not recommended) Fertilize once monthly only.

3. your plant is lucky to be a lucky bamboo or some other plant suitable to the conditions. It tolerates
low light, is flexible as to temperature; but prefers warmer, and “soil” should be damp or moist most
of the time. How often you water your plant depends on the humidity in your home. Remove dying
bottom leaves to encourage height growth and bring out the beauty of the plant. Outdoor use is not
recommended.

LUCKY BAMBOO

Lucky Bamboo, botanical name Draceana, is a tropical plant
of the Lily family with naked branches ending in tufts of
sword shaped leaves. Its origin is South East Asia and now
becomes a unique indoor plant from nature with a long life.

Lucky Bamboo enjoys indoor environments and dislikes
direct sunlight. Air exposure comforts its green leaves. Keep
the plant in clean water, making sure to change it at least
once a month. One inch of water level is needed at all times.
High water levels may induce excessive roots.

Asian peoples believe bamboo is lucky and brings wealth.
The round shape with layers gives you good Feng Shui
(Fortune).

Please do not transplant Lucky Bamboo into soil.
